History

Ian Smith originally founded his own consulting company, Smith Leuchars Ltd and in 1987 moved to Sydney to lead and set up a new joint venture company - Irwin Johnston Smith Leuchars Ltd in association with Irwin Johnston Partners of Melbourne.

ISP was formed in 1990 from the restructuring of Smith Leuchars Ltd of New Zealand and Irwin Johnston Smith Leuchars of Sydney.

In 1998 Ian Smith sold the company to its employees, and it continues under the directorship of John O'Hagan and Stuart Preston.

FUTURE TRENDS IN ENGINEERING

The current frenzy of technological advancement has enormous relevence, benefits and opportunites particularly for technical professions. As Engineers we now have far more powerful tools available to us than ever before and that trend is set to continue.

With the advent of sophisticated design tools, Engineers have also come under increasing pressures. A more demanding society has forced the profession to produce more with less and further push the boundaries.

The scene is therefore set for the future in which the successful Engineering practice must increase the quantity and standard of output in order to remain competitive. This philosophy is central to operations at ISP and the trend of increasing quantity and quality has been evident since the formation of the company.
